B2: Gather feedback

Feedback is a tool that can help people evaluate themselves and their work and how others perceive them. It’s main use is to help people improve and enhance their work. With this feedback I got on my blog, I have added a logo to my homepage as suggested. We have used the following as types of feedback:

We used Padlet to share work this is a way to access a peer’s blog and leave comments on their pages if needed. Padlet is a very convenient notice board, however more things outside of blogs could be shared on that notice board, such as links to songs on SoundCloud or YouTube. Accessing Padlet allowed us to feedback on other peers’ work.

Group discussions – this is a collaborative task which involves peers bringing new ideas to discussions. Personally, I think they went well, I got my ideas across clearly and I feel like everyone listened to what I had to say.

A survey can be used to investigate the characteristics, behaviours, or opinions of a group of people. Surveys can be used online (via social media, emails or websites), on paper, or via telephone.

I received feedback off my tutor, Steve Hoggart, on the 15th of February – he noted that I hadn’t set up a website or my own music to my EPK yet, though the latter has since been done.

What kind of things can you do to get feedback?

You can get feedback from posting a survey online, enabling replies or comments on your posts, or simply by reaching out to your clients. I got feedback from a comment on my EPK:

I received a comment from fellow student Ayden Blackman on my EPK: “Blog has a nice layout; you've linked your Last.Fm too. EPK is extremely detailed with a lot of YouTube links included and a video of the band which you set up the mics in. A lot of detail on your hero Kendrick too. Could include a logo.

I have also received one-to-one feedback from Steve on what I have done for my course so far; this was recorded into a voice memo. I have been listening back to the voice memo to remind myself what feedback I have gotten from him.

Personally, I prefer receiving feedback via comments as I prefer reading what others have put as it seems easier to just go back and reread the comments, plus I don’t like hearing my voice in one-to-one feedback voice memos.

After receiving feedback, I have gone over my blog and made the improvements listed. In doing so, I have added a logo to the blog header as suggested and more YouTube links showcasing my skills.
